30 Years ago Georgian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli decided to make a memorial to commemorate Georgia and its 3.000 year old history. To illustrate the greatness of the country, he constructed 16 giant pillars, each 30m high, in a perfect, symmetrical square. He began working on the monument in 1985, but never finished.
The name of this monastery translated as the "Monastery of the Cross". Jvari Monastery is a sixth-century Georgian Orthodox monastery near Mtskheta, eastern Georgia. Jvari is a rare case of an Early Medieval Georgian church that has survived to the present day almost unchanged
Construction of Sameba began in 1995, marking a significant moment in Georgia’s post-Soviet era. Completed in 2004
Narikala is an ancient fortress overlooking Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and the Mtkvari (Kura) River. The fortress consists of two walled sections on a steep hill between the sulfur baths and the botanical gardens of Tbilisi. On the lower court there is the recently restored St Nicholas church. Newly built in 1996–1997, it replaces the original 13th-century church that was destroyed in a fire. The new church is of "prescribed cross" type, having doors on three sides. The internal part of the church is decorated with the frescos showing scenes from both the Bible and the history of Georgia
