Akhtala Monastery is one of the unique monuments of Christian history in the Caucasus. It is in the very north of Armenia, near the border with Georgia, 3km from the M6 highway between Yerevan and Tbilisi. It is situated on a small plateau above a small river, Shamlukh. Once there was a fortress, the walls of which are still visible at the entrance to the monastery.
Haghpat Monastery, also known as Haghpatavank, is a medieval Armenian monastery complex in Haghpat, Armenia, built between the 10th and 13th century. The monastery was founded by Queen Khosrovanuysh, wife of the Bagratid king Ashot III, probably in 976. The nearby monastery at Sanahin was built around the same time.
Sanahin Monastery is an Armenian monastery founded in the 10th century in Sanahin in the Lori Province of Armenia. According to the legend, the name of the monastery of Sanahin is a result of a quarrel that arose between the master architect and his son during the construction of the complex. It is said that a prince from Sanahin hired a renowned architect to build a monastery.
